New Year’s Day “Late Risers” Brunch at The Independent

After celebrating the change in year into the early hours of the morning, The Independent in Union Square will dish out an all-day brunch service with specials. Available from 11am-11pm, the “Late Risers Brunch” encourages revelers to come as they are to indulge in their first brunch of 2017, no matter what time it is. The kitchen will serve up both carnivore and vegetarian-friendly omelet specials and an array of surprises, like the new Prime Rib Hash with fried eggs and bordelaise ($14). The kitchen also will churn out The Indo’s classic brunch lineup including Housemade Maple Bacon Doughnuts ($6); a Sweet Potato Biscuit with sausage gravy ($8); Irish Breakfast with two fried eggs, grilled tomato, black & white pudding, Irish bacon, beans, home fries and toast ($14); Grilled Grapefruit with a honey drizzle ($3); the Croque Madame with crisp hot ham, Gruyere, béchamel and fried egg on Iggy’s sourdough with mesclun greens ($13), and more.

On the liquid side, the bar team will be shaking up brunch-friendly cocktails for those testing the “hair of the dog” theory in addition to a classic from their archives, the Helen of Troy Does Countertop Dancing with Applejack, Orgeat, citrus and angostura bitters.
