Second Sun Rising is Boston's monthly fusion partner dance (more on that below).


This month in celebration of greeting-card love day, we shall have for your pleasure a traveler from the north and some tasteful but, importantly, humorous Valentine's decor. 🍁


Dave Roze, an awesome DJ booked nationally for fusion and one of the organizers of Dance Alchemy Toronto, is coming to Boston! We're going to have him DJing our second half of the night, and before that we'll have our own (Boston-based, internationally acclaimed) Ruth and Mike teaching an all-levels lesson from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on shaping communication and then DJing the first half of our night.


This will be the last lesson Ruth and Mike will be in Boston to teach for us at least until June (ah, the life of full-time traveling dance instructors). The lesson will focus on discovering how to sense and communicate shape with a partner, starting with subtle, minimal shape matching and finding how we can develop and expand.


Second Sun Rising is a monthly fusion dance, meaning that we steal and adapt things from a range of dances to partner dance to a range of types of music. Entrance is $17 for the lesson and dance, $15 for students and low income. Dance-only entrance is $12 regular, $10 students / low income with social dancing 8-11 p.m. Cash only.


Help us help the earth by bringing your water bottles (plastic cups will be available for $1 each if you require them) and help us help the venue by bringing dance shoes (if you forget them, we'll just ask that you dance in socks).


We are a short walk from the Alewife T station and near the 78 bus line from Harvard Square, with some parking available onsite and plenty of street parking as well. Don't park next to the daycare building while it is snowing, or for spaces dedicated to Enterprise Car Rental, or in the Evolve Fitness lot next door.
