Featuring the winner of the 2017 Jeanne Selander Memorial Concerto Competition, our Spring Concert series is sure to have something for everyone. Jeanne Selander was an energetic violinist in the LPO when it first began in the 1980s. The youth competition was her brainchild and her passion. Mrs. Selander passed away in 1992, just a couple of years after establishing the competition for the orchestra. The contest is open to young musicians through the age of 18 who live or go to school within 75 miles of Lowell and allows for the chance to perform a solo with the orchestra. This year the winner, Joon Kyun, will be performing the Finale of Dvoràk’s Cello Concerto. Also featuring a variety of Pops tunes and other favorites, don’t miss our Spring Pops Concert with a program appropriately titled “They’re Playing Our Song”!
