In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, the JFK Library has created a full-scale recreation of the 363-foot Saturn V rocket on Columbia Point using augmented reality (AR). On July 16th at 9:32 am EST, the full-scale AR rocket will launch from the Library, exactly 50 years after Apollo 11 began its journey to the Moon. Join us behind the Library on the patio to watch the launch over Dorchester Bay and relive the journey to the Moon.
Users who cannot visit the JFK Library will be able to relive the launch anywhere in the world on July 16th with a tabletop version of the AR Apollo 11 rocket. The event will also be live-streamed on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch.
We recommend downloading the app JFK Moonshot before coming to the Library. We will have TV screens available for the launch as well. To download the app, go to jfkmoonshot.org.
