"Startup culture" brings to mind dozens of office environment stereotypes, from ping-pong to beers on draught to office dogs. But for startup leaders that want to prioritize meaningful & impactful company culture -- the kind that attracts, retains, and empowers top talent -- what actually works? What techniques are effective and practical for startups to implement -- both at the early-stage when they're resource-constrained, and as they're rapidly scaling, when the pace of hiring alone can crush the best intentions?

We've brought together a panel of startup founders and People Ops leaders to share lessons learned from their extensive experience at startups of all stages. From interviewing to company values to structure & communication practices, to the truth about perks and startup office stereotypes. If you're a leader in a startup that's growing or will be, and you care about your company being a place where people can do their best work... don't miss this.

This event is part of the Talent & Training track at Startup Boston 2018.

Our Speakers:
Sam Oliver, Technical Recruiter at PathAI
A Maine native and former DCist, Sam currently leads technical recruiting at PathAI. Before that, Sam freelanced as a hiring consultant for VCs and co-founders at early-stage companies, helping them build founding engineering teams. Sam is an outspoken talent advocate and active in the Boston startup community, helping organize popular meetups like Boston DevOps and Mobile Tea. When she’s not organizing events or networking, she’s at the yoga studio working on perfecting her crow pose.

Ellen Chisa, Co-Founder & CEO at Dark
Ellen Chisa enjoys making new things. She is currently the CEO and cofounder of Dark, a startup to build software 100x faster. They're designing a language and tools for engineers to quickly build microservice based applications. Before this, she worked on Lola, Kickstarter, and Office Mobile. She also advises and invests with Flybridge and parcelb.vc.

More speakers to be announced soon!
