“Their songs are always on the edge of traditional and innovation . . . their performances are electrifying”. - Sarah MacArthur, Highlander Radio

House of Hamill, a national touring act described as “Radiohead meets Riverdance”, will make a return visit to the Burren Backroom Series on Friday, February 21st. Showtime is 7:00.

House of Hamill features Brian Buchanan of Enter the Haggis and Rose Baldino of Burning Bridget Cleary. Joining them on bass and vocals will be Caroline Browning of Nashville.

Somerville area audiences may recognize Buchanan, a front man with Toronto-based Celtic folk-rock band, Enter the Haggis. Enter the Haggis performs regularly on area stages, including the Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center, the Spire Center, Center for the Arts in Natick, and the City Winery.

Buchanan’s partner is Rose Baldino, fiddler, vocalist, and for 12 years, bandleader of the Celtic folk band, Burning Bridget Cleary. Baldino’s band performed at Club Passim and multiple Boston Area Coffee House stages.

Baldino and Buchanan launched House of Hamill in 2015. The couple was married in 2017 and they began touring nationally. Their all-violin cover of the Guns n’ Roses song, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” went viral with over 15 million views and 400,000 shares.

House of Hamill’s second CD, “March Through Storms”, was released in 2018. The lead track, “Pound a Week Rise” was the #1 Top Song on the FOLK-DJ Charts for September 2018. Richard Gordon (WVUD/WRCT) reviewed it as “one of the best recent neo-Celtic releases.” A third album is in the works.

Buchanan and Baldino are looking forward to their third annual engagement at the Burren Backroom Series.

"The Burren has a monster history of Celtic music and musicians. We’re always honored to play there, and we can’t wait to show off some of the new tunes from the next album," reports Buchanan.

The Burren Backroom Concert Series, directed by Tom Bianchi, presents local and national acts of all genres. The series is known for the intimacy, pristine sound, and unique atmosphere of the Burren backroom.
