Hometown Brodown: A Tribute to Beantown

On St. Patrick’s Day, Sake Toomey is serving up a roast - but you won’t find any corned beef and cabbage at this event. Join us for Hometown Brodown: A Tribute to Beantown, a drag, burlesque, and WTF?? “tribute” to the city we call home.

Emceed by Sake Toomey, this event will have you asking, “Wait, is Ben Carr ACTUALLY my patronus? If I cut myself, do I bleed Dunkin Donuts coffee? Why do I want to read more Tom Brady/Julian Edelman fan fiction?” Yes, we will have a dramatic reading of A Gronking to Remember. Yes, someone will be dressed as a mermaid from the depths of the Chahls. Yes, we will chant “Yankees suck!” At first you won’t understand why, but you’ll soon be consumed by the need to drop your Rs, pick up a case of Sam Summah, and change your name to Larry Bird. (It’s perfect, because your lucky number is 33.)

Performers include Sugar Dish (Lipstick Criminals, The Slutcracker), Honey Pie (Lipstick Criminals, The Slutcracker), Dahlia Strack (Rogue Burlesque, The Slaughterhouse Society), Lucky Charming (Sirlesque, White Elephant Burlesque), Dewie Decimator (Rogue Burlesque), Ginger Snap (The Betsi Feathers), Brandy Wine (Rogue Burlesque), Sherman (Boston League of Wicked Wrestlers, The Slaughterhouse Society) and MORE.

Sake Toomey is a Boston-based burlesque producer, performer, and emcee who has been an active member of the burlesque scene since 2011. She is a founding and contributing editor of Burlesque Boston, a site aimed to give performers and audiences one-stop access to upcoming shows, peeks backstage, and performance/educational opportunities. Past productions include The Final Frontease: A Burlesque Tribute to Star Trek (May 2017 at Oberon in Harvard Square), The Nightman Cumeth: A Burlesque Tribute to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (October 2016 and March 2017 at The Midway Cafe), and The Burlesque Boston Showcase (February 2017 at Club Cafe in Boston). Sake has also been a cast member of The Slutcracker and Old School Game Show.
