We'll be hiking the Laraway Mountain (2,797 ft.) and Barr Hill trails in the Northern Green Mountains, which is considered a hidden gem in the area. The total hike for Laraway Mountain will be 4 miles total round trip, but can be extended depending on time and pace, as this trail ends up merging with the Long Trail and can hike on that trail. The overlook is right before the summit, since the actual summit is below the treeline and does not offer any views, but it includes really cool rock overhangs and formations along the way that end up adding some variety leading up to the overlook and the summit.


In some cases, you end up hiking under some of them. The trail is moderate in difficulty, with a constant increase in elevation with rocks to go over, otherwise it is very manageable. The overlook right before the summit offers incredible views of the Northern Green Mountain range, including Lake Champlain and the Eden Hills. On our way back, we will stop at the Barr Hill trail. The Barr Hill trail is easy in difficulty, but also offers an incredible view towards Mt. Norris and the base of the Eden Hill region. The total hike will be 7 miles for the day, but can end up being extended depending on time and pace.


What to bring

Rain gear (depending on the weather)
