Exclusive Tribute Peter Frampton Comes Alive! to be performed by The Gary Backstrom Band at The Regent Theatre One-Night Only
One night only, Saturday February 12th, The Regent Theatre welcomes the legendary Gary Backstrom Band for an exclusive tribute performance: Peter Frampton Comes Alive! The Regent, “Arlington’s Show Place of Entertainment” is dedicated to bringing national and international performers of bona fide recognition. This is one not to miss!
The double live album by English rock musician, Peter Frampton, is one of the best-selling albums in the United States (over eight million copies sold in the United States and eleven million worldwide)! “Show Me The Way”, “Baby I Love Your Way” and “Do You Feel Like We Do”, released as singles, all reached the Top 15 on the Billboard Hit 100. Shortly after the album was released, it reached Number One on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for ten non-consecutive weeks in the top spot. The album was a breakthrough for the artist. Rolling Stone voted it “Album of the Year” (readers’ poll). It remains today to be known as one of the best-selling live albums ever!
The Gary Backstrom band will be recreating the entire live album playing straight from the top all the way to the end. It will be up-temp, lively and in the exact song order. You can just hear the lyrics and feel the acoustical instrument vibe leading all the way to “Do You Feel Like We Do”. It makes your bones tingle just thinking about it. The band lineup includes Gary Backstrom on guitar/vocals, Chris Nemitz on keys, Everett Pendleton on bass, and Peter Koeplin on drums.
When Gary was asked, “Why Peter Frampton Tribute?”, without hesitation, Gary immediately replied, “Peter Frampton has been and still is a major musical influence in my life. We all grew up listening to Frampton! For the past year, I have listened non-stop to only Peter Frampton. Digging it all up and just remembering. We put this Tribute together based on this legend’s influences – and this live performance will deliver Frampton”!
Gary Backstrom’s mission is to recreate the Frampton vibe for people who just want to experience the legendary artist and the album. Gary shared, “This is a way to just get out and get lost in live music for a few hours in a historic and intimate theatre – no big crowds. The Regent is a gem”. Gary added he saw Frampton perform live at the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion just a few summers ago. He said he closed his eyes and it was the same Frampton voice as if he had not aged at all. It was a remarkable performance on every level. Gary wants to pay it back and pass it forward with this exclusive tribute and live performance. Backstrom endearingly shared that The Regent Theatre has long been near and dear to his heart and is one of his top places to play live.
Gary Backstrom, the front man and founder of New England-based jam band, JIGGLE THE HANDLE has played regionally as well as toured the country over the past thirty years. He is described as “an artist whose live shows fall somewhere in the realm of the soul and R&B of Stevie Wonder blended with the fiery Latin rhythm and blazing guitar of Santana leaving audiences bedazzled and thrilled”. Gary has shared the stage with local favorites MAX CREEK, RYAN MONTBLEAU, ASSEMBLY OF DUST, and STRANGE FOLK just to name a few. He has opened for THE ALLMAN BROS., DEREK TRUCKS, LOS LOBOS, SPIN DOCTORS, LITTLE FEAT, RAT DOG and WIDESPREAD PANIC. Backstrom has also played with LIBERTY DEVITO, drummer for BILLY JOEL’S BAND, while touring with PIANO MEN playing rock concerts with sixty piece orchestras around the country.
