Origami is an ancient art form practiced for thousands of years. This is a wonderful program that introduces the fundamentals of origami, geometry and various folding styles. This half-day program is designed for tweens (+10yrs) to learn:
- Fundamental folding techniques including how to read an origami diagram. This is key for future explorations of the art.
- Paper folding vs. paper construction. We will create classic origami models in addition to some fun construction projects
- Geometric shapes and modular origami. We will learn to make cubes, octahedron, and dodecahedron models. These models follow simple principles and are yet complex in appearance.
- Mini-origami models. Making miniaturized models will challenge the dexterity of the most experienced folders, but it's easy to achieve with just a few simple tools and tips!
Your child will walk away feeling relaxed, confident and proud of what they made themselves! Hosted by an origami enthusiast who has practiced folding for decades, this program is a fun way to delve into what can easily be a life-long hobby and passion.
For the experienced folder, we will have the opportunity for 1:1 exploration and practicing more complex folds. Enthusiasts are welcome to bring diagrams for any models that they're working on.
All Materials Included: Your child will come home with many models in beautiful patterns. Variety of premium origami paper and sizes are available for exploration.
Duration: The Origami Program will be hosted in 4hr sessions with breaks in the middle for snacks and stretching! Please choose the best fit time slot for your child
What to bring: We recommend packing a snack and beverage for your child to enjoy! There are other tasty options in the mall for your child to purchase as well.
