The Dance Complex is popping up around town this July and August with opportunities for FREE dance classes and performances for the community. These events will celebrate the wonder and curiosity of dance for all in accessible settings for our community at large. Through partnerships with the Cambridge Public Library and BioMed Realty, The Dance Complex will bring local artists out into the community, teaching and performing a variety of dance genres.
East Coast Swing (known, in some circles, as the Jitterbug) is a fun, uptempo social dance style - a wonderful compliment to rock and roll music. The first half of this class will introduce the basic steps of single-time and triple-time swing rhythms. During the second half, participants will be invited to dance socially to a fun rock and roll playlist: songs from the 1940’s - today. Guidance and instruction will be offered throughout the latter half of the class. Comfortable clothing, and ballroom dance shoes / clean-soled dress shoes recommended. No prior experience or partner necessary to participate.
