The tragic death of Robin Williams was a huge, terrible blow to all of us at the Brattle. The only glimmer of good to come out of it was the massive outpouring of love for Williams’ life and career that followed. We join in that celebration with this all-too brief tribute to his singular talent.
It’s difficult to encapsulate the incredible versatility of Williams’ film output without doing a full retrospective so, instead, we focus on some of our favorite performances. From his starring role in Robert Altman’s POPEYE to remarkable supporting turns in THE FISHER KING and GOOD WILL HUNTING to his more recent work in black comedies like World’s Greatest Dad, Robin Williams had an incredible energy and spirit that was impossible to ignore – and it seems impossible to imagine that he has left the world too soon.
