What started as a Facebook status developed into a conversation that WILL grow into action - only if we work together.
Please join fellow Bostonians as we do a deep dive into what the December 2017 Boston Globe Spotlight series on Race in Boston means to us and how we can work together to improve the livelihood of Black families in Boston, MA.
As promised, Chef Boy RG will be making multiple pots of Gumbo and we will be streaming Uncle Spike's movies on the screen. Just for the ambiance really, we'll have music of course. We will be writing our thoughts and solutions on giant pieces of paper, so please come with an open mind (and an appetite).
Ground Rules:
1. Though this conversation will focus on Boston's Black community, all races, colors, sexual orientations, ages, political ideologies and creeds are welcome. We gotta work together y'all.
2. No video or audio recording devices permitted. This needs to be a safe place for all to express their thoughts, hopes, feelings and dreams and not worry about ending up on TMZ.
3. No reporters. See #2.
4. No Elected officials. We love y'all, we really do, but we got this one for now.
5. This conversation is about the December 2017 Spotlight series in the Boston Globe. This conversation is NOT about the reader comments at the end of the article(s), what your uncle, roommate, or ex who lives in Minnesota had to say about it. Let's break it down. Let's talk it out. What did they get right? What did they get wrong? What did WE already know and what did others have no clue about?
And most importantly: Where are WE going to go from here?!
......see you all in 2018!
