A cherished annual tradition in Arlington, The Fox Festival & Parade, has been reimagined as an expansive and welcoming, virtual family event this year that encourages creativity, appreciation for local wildlife, and safe social distancing.
This year, we celebrate with an at-home puppet show extravaganza for kids and adults to do together: The Epic Adventures of Fox and Owl. We invite people of all ages to participate by taking our two protagonists – Fox and Owl – on an exciting adventure. All you need is your imagination to invent a truly fabulous adventure that can come to life in your living room or backyard, or in a world of your creation.
A range of activities are available for both families with young children and for creative older kids working independently: Learn about wildlife from local specialists, create colorful window display, make puppets of our featured characters, and make a movie with your puppets to share in our online festival!
To support your work, Fox & Robbins Libraries, The Arlington Commission for Arts & Culture (ArtsArlington.org), and the Arlington Center for the Arts are presenting Zoom workshops with artists Kari Percival and Sara Peattie to meet and guide families who would like to participate and make something together!
• Fox Library June 10, 4 pm: Project Overview, making other characters, developing a story
• Fox Library, June 11, 4 pm: Toy Theater and Video How-To Tips
• Arlington Center for the Arts DATE TBD – Make a short scene for a collaborative group movie with others!
