PAPERCUTS BOOKSHOP is the award-winning, woman-owned independent bookstore located in the beautiful Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. Kate Layte opened Papercuts in 2014 after a decade working in the book industry at Little, Brown in Boston and before that she worked for Borders (RIP). Layte studied English at the University of Massachusetts, Boston and earned her publishing certificate at Boston University.

Pre-pandemic, PAPERCUTS hosted incredible authors including: Morgan Parker, Min Jin Lee, Lindy West, Celeste Ng, Eve Ewing, Paul Tremblay, Jennifer Tseng, Michelle Tea and many more. We published THE PAPERCUTS ANTHOLOGY to commemorate our first year which includes short pieces by authors that visited us. We have since published three more books under our house imprint CUTLASS PRESS. The second volume of The Papercuts Anthology is in the works. Stay tuned.

In January 2020, we tripled our size, moving from our tiny 400 square foot nook at 5 Green Street, to our current beautiful location at 60 South Street-- at the corner of South Street and Carolina where Fresh Hair thrived for almost 40 years.

Thank you for shopping local and keeping us here. We wouldn't exist without YOU. Read on!
