YW Boston will host the first of two events in its annual Elevating Lives Series on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m at the UMass Club. This panel discussion will focus on Boston’s hiring and retention practices at the intersection of race and gender and provide concrete strategies for diversifying leadership. YW Boston serves Bostonians with programs that educate and empower people across racial, gender, class, and organizational lines. The Elevating Lives Series is designed to help further the organization’s mission to create more inclusive environments where women, people of color, and in particular women of color, can thrive. Industry experts will share both external and internal insights and real life practices for hiring and retaining a diverse workforce in this panel moderated by Maureen Alphonse-Charles, Managing Director of Koya Leadership Partners. Panel participants will include Kim Dukes, Managing Director and Co-Founder, DSP Executive Search; Zena Lum, Senior Consultant, Lois L. Lindauer Searches; David Margolius, Vice President, Retail, Shawmut Design and Construction; and Bob Selle, Chief Human Resources Officer, Ocean State Job Lot.
