Young Naturalists

Explore with us at Gore Place! Led by expert educators and using the grounds as a backdrop, you will practice science and naturalism skills, make close observations, record your findings in a nature journal, and share questions about the natural world.

Winter is a time when many plants and animals stay out of sight but there is still so much to find! We’ll look for insects in their winter hiding places, discover tracks left in the snow and mud, identify trees by their shape and bark, and uncover a variety of plants you can find all winter long.

This program is a five-week series meeting on Saturdays from January 22 to February 19. Participation in all five sessions is encouraged but not required. Please wear clothing appropriate to the weather and for exploring the outdoors. This program is rain or shine but may be canceled or postponed due to extreme weather. If one session is canceled, we will add a session on February 26th. In the unlikely event that two sessions are canceled, we will end with the session on February 26th.

This program is for youth ages 7-10 with an adult. $90 per child for all five sessions, no charge for the required adult caregiver.

This program takes place outside with access to an indoor accessible restroom. Educators will meet the group at our Nature Playscape adjacent to the main parking lot and Carriage House. Please review our current COVID Safety and Mask Policy here.
