Want to be spiritual but have to pay the bills? Everyone’s tale, isn’t it?
Many of us have an intuition that there must be something more to us than just the Monday to Friday work week. I catch myself thinking – there has to be something more to me! But we live in the real world, and out here people need to pay rent and student loans. And what if you’re sick? What about the medical bills? Living in the real world is an expensive affair and while it’s nice to dream about meditating with yogis, and relaxing to think about it, where is the technology on how to use these practices in the real world?
Going through the motions of work, buy, consume – I wonder where time flies and if I will ever have the chance to escape the systematic slaughter of today’s consumer economy? Beyond the temporary acquisition of wealth, is there a way I can engineer my life so that I can be spiritually satisfied even while battling the demands of a capitalistic society?
