Set on the islands-world of Wastoria, Waste in Space: A Trash Odyssey takes us to a not-so-distant future when the trash thrown from Earth has created a wondrous wasteland up in space. The humanots born there have learned to flourish through a strict set of commands, where only the place you were born and the parts you were built of determine your status in life.
For most, this is simply the way life has always been, but for a small handful of young humanots, they believe that life in Wastoria could be so much more, if only the adults would listen to what they had to say. What they don’t realize is that they must learn to listen to each other first to make any change at all.
Come join us on the unexpected journey of Waste in Space: A Trash Odyssey, a tale of accepting yourself and choosing your own future, despite what others have chosen for you!
The Winter Sort of Thing (WSOT) performances in 2019 will take place at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center at 7 Lock Street in Manayunk. It will be the program’s third year at this venue.
The WSOT is an annual production that is born from the imaginative collaboration between Yes! And... Collaborative Arts’ students and a staff of professionals in theatre and arts education. The program allows kids to cultivate the skills they have learned in Yes! And... Collaborative Arts programming and apply them to a full-length musical experience!
