Once again, students and teachers from the Bow Sim Mark Tai Chi Arts Association celebrate the biggest Tai Chi event of the year! Join us in Boston’s Chinatown Park (next to the iconic Gate) for our annual World Tai Chi & Qigong Day performance. Participants include the Boston branch of the BSMTCAA, Rick Wong’s Chinese Martial Arts Center, The Dorchester YMCA tai chi class, and the Boston University tai chi class.
The BSMTCAA has offered classes in Chinese martial arts in Boston for over 40 years. As one of the few women to reach an advanced level of mastery in kung fu, Grandmaster Bow Sim Mark is a pioneer in the art. Her son Donnie Yen (IP MAN, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, and the upcoming Disney live-action MULAN remake) is one of Asia’s most celebrated movie stars.
Tai Chi is renowned for its health benefits, especially for older people, and Qigong (chi kung) is recognized as an effective means of stress relief. Learn more about this ancient art, which includes meditation, stretching and strengthening exercises, and martial techniques including empty hand and weapon styles. Whether you’re new to Tai Chi or a long-time practitioner, everyone is welcome to attend this free event.
In case of rain, the event will take place at the Pao Arts Center, 99 Albany St, in Chinatown.
