Celebrate the fourth annual World Giraffe Day at Franklin Park Zoo! With only 90,000 giraffes remaining in the wild, this worldwide event is meant to raise support, create awareness and provide a deeper understanding of the challenges these animals face in the wild. Learn more about threats facing giraffes, as well as ways to support giraffe conservation efforts.
Schedule of Events:
11:00 – 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.: See if you can spot the giraffe stilt walker roaming the Zoo!
Giraffe Zookeeper Chat: 1:30 p.m.
Zoo New England is deeply committed to the conservation of these majestic animals and is an active participant in the Giraffe Species Survival Plan (SSP) – a cooperative, inter-zoo program coordinated nationally through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. SSPs are designed to maintain genetically diverse and demographically stable captive populations of species. Zoo New England has also supported the Reticulated Giraffe Project.
