Nurses in combat, teenage plane spotters, rat tamers, black marketeers, USO dancers, kids who waved to blimp pilots, refugees, war brides, children in Nazi Germany and Japan, and the moms, grandmothers, sisters, fiancees and girl friends who kept the home fires burning...Women of the Greatest Generation!

Seven years ago the Rev. Dr. Fran Bogle and the Rev. Nancy Reed, realized that the amazing stories of women who lived throughout the Second World War were often untold and disappearing. They began meeting women and collecting their stories.

Their project was created to record and share the stories of women who lived through this critical time in the history of the world, and help people today discover their own resources of faith, hope, love and courage.

Fran and Nancy have interviewed over 75 women from Maine to Michigan and created three anthologies. Working with the Just Peace Players drama troupe, they created Women of the Greatest Generation: Stories of Faith, Hope, Love and Courage, an original play telling the stories of these amazing women in their own words.

Some women were the first to do jobs traditionally held by men. Most simply did all they could to help their families get through a difficult and frightening time. Story tellers ranged in age during the war from six to one hundred-three.

The Just Peace Players have been deeply inspired by these women. Their willingness to share their stories of hope and heartache, love and courage, laughter and struggle has been a gift to us. Now it is a joy to share their stories with you.
