Join us for a conversation and Q&A with Ingrid Gerdes on what it's like to have a career as a recording artist, voice-over artist, and lead vocalist, and how to make a living doing what you love.

November 29th, 7-8pm

International Village 019

Basement classroom on Northeastern University's campus

Right next to Ruggles MBTA Orange Line Station

Originally from the Ozarks ,Boston Soul-Blues recording artist Ingrid Gerdes’ gospel-meets-R&B voice has earned her more than one comparison to greats like Irma Thomas, Amy Winehouse and Mavis Staples. With a powerful nearly four-octave range, a strong confident stage presence and a timeless voice that brings a hauntingly familiar but fresh edge to soul music, Gerdes continues to impress audiences world wide. "She can belt, she can soothe, and she doesn't tell lies. If you didn't think they made music like this anymore, then drop your doubts and get on board." - STEVE MORSE, The Boston Globe.

Ingrid has been a professional musician touring the world, performing for both sold out stadiums and in intimate settings for the past 18 years. She has recorded and produced three original albums, earning her numerous awards, nominations and honors- most notably Blues Song Of The Year, Album of The Year, Vocalist of The Year, and Best Band in Boston among others. In addition to her own band, Ingrid performs, composes and collaborates with many other musicians, bands and artists and tours on average nine months out of the year.

Ingrid studied opera at the University of Kansas before earning her degree at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music where she is also currently pursuing her MBA in Music Business. In addition to vocal performance Ingrid also works as a noted voice-over artist, operating a production and recording studio in Boston, and teaches both music and dance when not on tour."
