Try your hand at watercolor techniques, using methods and materials similar to those used by Revolutionary artists. When military engineer and artist Pierre Charles L’Enfant painted Washington’s marquee tent on the highest hill at Verplanck’s Point, New York, he worked quickly to sketch large encampments, figures and trees. Learn how painting materials have changed over 200 years and create a camp scene of your own. Guests are encouraged to bring photos of their favorite places as artistic inspiration.
