My name is Tom Kinsky and I am the Vice Chair of the Boston Grotto, a caving club affiliated with the National Speleological Society. We meet the first Wednesday of every month on MIT campus and I would like to invite you to join us this month. We are sending out an invite to everyone in the area in hopes of attracting new members, and sharing what we do. There will be pizza and soft drinks so come hungry!


This month the meeting has a special start time - 7 pm - and will feature a really cool talk by four of our members who participated in a deep cave expedition in the karstic limestone plateau of southern Turkey this past summer (two of them had gone the previous summer as well). We helped to extend the depth of the cave (Morca Cave) from -919 meters to -1240 meters - it is now the third deepest cave in Turkey, with going passage at the bottom. There will also be reports of other, more local cave trips, and planning for upcoming trips, vertical practices, and our fall party.

We meet in room 145 in the MIT Tang Center (MIT building E51), which is located at 70 Memorial Drive, at the corner of Memorial Drive and Wadsworth St, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There is one door to the building from the parking lot and another door at the corner of Amherst and Wadsworth. If both doors are locked, wait by the parking lot door for someone to arrive who can let you in. Check out the Boston Grotto website for more info on parking and public transportation options.
