Volatile Structures with Vimoksha/Chavi Bansal


Does ritual provide the confidence to face the unknown? Does repetition form our identity? Is our true identity revealed when breaking the chains of ritual? Vimoksha’s Volatile Structures explores everyday rituals utilizing rhythmic structures from Classical Indian dance and the physically active meditation of Sufi spiritual dance forms. With influences of Bharatnatyam, Bollywood, martial arts and contemporary dance, this premiere work by choreographer Chavi Bansal pilots a journey through chaos in order to investigate rituals and the sense of safety they provide.


The evening will also include a collection of company repertoire focused on human emotions and mind activity, originally created in Netherlands, India and Norway.
