Belmont World Film presents the New England premiere of TREMORS, Jayro Bustamante’s deeply personal follow up to his landmark debut IXCANUL, Guatemala’s first submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, which Belmont World Film screened in 2017. In Tremors he shifts his focus from rural Guatemala to the upper classes of Guatemala City, once again setting his sights on an individual caught between two seemingly irreconcilable worlds: a 40-year-old married father of two and practicing evangelical Christian’s traditional life begins to crack when he falls in love with a man, which creates conflict with his beliefs. His life becomes a hell of repressive intolerance when his family and his church decide to do whatever it takes to "cure him," forcing him to suppress his urges through therapy.
Tickets are $11 general admission and $9 for students and seniors in advance at www.belmontworldfilm.org; $12 and $10, respectively, on day of show beginning at 7:00 PM. EBT cardholder tickets are half price at the door with cash.
