TPE: MJStew in Taipei, a Photography Show

At the beginning of 2019, Boston-based multimedia artist Michael Stewart departed for 3 months in Taipei.

As a young queer artist looking for his place in the world, Michael woke up before dawn each morning and set out with his camera and a bicycle to explore and depict his temporary home while exploring ideas of the self, identity, the other, and place.

Now based in New York, Michael will be returning to Boston to host an evening granting friends and neighbors back home a glimpse of Taipei through his eyes.

TPE: MJStew in Taipei will feature over 100 photographs the artist took while in Taipei (which is also one of Boston's Sister Cities), which he hopes will spark both the viewer’s interest and their curiosity, continuing to create opportunities for exchange between these two dynamic places.

Hosted at Cafénation in Brighton Center, the event will feature a donation-based beer & wine bar, mini art shop and photo prints for sale, and the chance to mingle with like-minded folks including the artist himself.
