Tour the Dorothy Quincy Homestead

Tour a fascinating piece of American history: the Quincy Homestead represents construction from three different periods. The original house dates to 1686. In 1706, extensive additions were made to the original structure and the Homestead did not emerge in its current form until in the mid-18th century. The house provides an excellent illustration of how architectural styles developed during the Colonial period.
In your visit to the Quincy Homestead you can learn more about the members of the influential Quincy family who lived in the house and their the connection to John Hancock. The house includes some amazing antiques and glimpses into the evolution of the structure over time.
In 1904 The National Society of The Colonial Dames in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts purchased the Quincy Homestead. The Dames entered into a long-term cooperative relationship with the Commonwealth. Now the MA Department of Conservation and Recreation owns the property and are responsible for maintaining the exterior of the house (newly painted in the summer of 2016!) and grounds.
Free tours are offered on the hour and half hour & last about 45 minutes. Donations are gratefully accepted. Any visit should also include a walk through the gardens. The Homestead is only open on 9 days in 2017, but private group tours can be booked by appointment.
