Beginning November 22, River Bar will debut a new Polynesian tradition on this side of the Mystic with their weekly “Tiki Tuesday” series. Each Tuesday, this Assembly Row hotspot will transform into a Hawaiian-style hideaway complete with tropical treats, leis and entertainment including the piped in sounds of twinkling guitars and ukuleles, action-packed kung fu flicks and cult comedies filmed in the 50th state such as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “50 First Dates” all streamed on HDTVs with closed captioning both indoors and at the winterized outdoor bar area as the fire-pits roar on.
Each week, the beverage team will nominate a bartender to create three specialty Tahitian-style cocktails ($12-13) which will be available in addition to a standard quartet of four tiki cocktails ($11-12). The cocktails will be shaken and stirred with the dexterity of a hula dance and served in festive glassware. From the kitchen, chef Ed Churchill will serve up Polynesian platters designed for utensil-free enjoyment with items such as pork strips, crab rangoon, scallion pancakes and chicken wings. For additional luau fun, guests are encouraged to dress the part with grass skirts, floral accents and Hawaiian shirts creating a perpetual tropical vacation along the Mystic River even during the cold months.
Complimentary admission. These events are for ages 21+. Cocktail and food specials available at a la carte pricing.
