Welcome to a new Tuesday night residency for the month of January. The Van Burens - that high energy dance band from Quincy is taking the show on the road but visiting the Lizard every Tuesday night. Look for a wild variety show of music, comedy, and much more every week.
Dedicated to life, liberty and the pursuit of funkiness, The Van Burens turn American history into a high energy dance party on their infectious 2014 EP Presidential Lovefest. One of the busiest bands in the Boston area since their '08 founding, these five guys from Quincy, MA the City of Presidents infuse their joyfully schizophrenic mix of rock, funk, prog, and reggae with a seriously ironic, tongue-in-cheek twist on pop culture. The Van Burens Jeff "Pinky" King (keys), Emmett "McGee" Knox (bass), Greg "Smitty" Smith (guitar) and brothers Greg "Spitzy" Spitz (guitar) and Matt "Papa Bear" Spitz (drums) swap lead vocals and group harmonies over eclectic, exciting songs ripe with danceable grooves, stellar musicianship, clever songwriting, and a singular sense of humor.
