The Thirsty Scholar in Somerville is getting into the FIFA spirit as the World Cup continues in Qatar. For the remaining 2pm weekday matches of the preliminary competition, The Thirsty Scholar will open their doors early at 1pm and serve up “Futbol Specials.” They also will open at 11am for weekend matches, serving their brunch menu in addition to the World Cup specials.


“Futbol Gives Me Wings” has you scoring seven ($14), 15 ($25) and 30 ($42) plain wings or slathered in your choice of buffalo, house BBQ or sweet slap sauces. There also is a Sampler Platter ($35) filled with match day essentials for the social athlete: a half-dozen each of wings, tenders and mozzarella sticks in addition to a trio of steak eggrolls. The World Cup specials can be paired with a pitcher of beer ($15) or two ($30).



Open at 1pm for any scheduled 2pm weekday matches (excluding Thanksgiving) for the remainder of the preliminary competition: November 23, 25, 28, 29 & 30; December 1 & 2. Open at 11am for weekend matches serving the “Futbol Specials” and brunch menu.
