Spike Jonze's 2013 film Her offers up a near-future LA where the main characters are as glassed-in as the ubiquitous skyscrapers they move through. In this stilted world, a broken-hearted man (Joaquin Phoenix) falls in love with his computer's operating system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). Join The Technoskeptic and the Brattle Theatre for a screening of the film followed by a discussion about the reality of social AI and the impact of technology on relationships. The panel will include Harvard computer science professor Sasha Rush, UMass psychologist Sharon Lamb, and The Technoskeptic's Mo Lotman.
