The Makanda Project continues its concert series on the lawn of First Church in Roxbury. This event will also feature performances by community youth: Accion! Community Theater, the Butterfly Project, and Taiko drumming; an interactive art project by visual artist Mar; arts and crafts vendors; and good food. The Makanda Project will play from its repertoire of previously unrecorded Makanda Ken McIntyre compositions. Kurtis Rivers, Arni Cheatham, Sean Berry, Jason Robinson, Charlie Kohlhase (saxophones); Jerry Sabatini, Phil Grenadier (trumpets); Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Sarah Politz, Bill Lowe (trombones); John Kordalewski (piano); John Lockwood (bass); Warren Smith (drums).
