Renowned saxophonist Chico Freeman will again be the featured guest for the Makanda Project's April concert in Dudley Square. This year's event will feature four new big band arrangements of Mr. Freeman's compositions, along with other pieces from the Makanda Project's repertoire. Over the past 10 years the Makanda Project's Dudley Square concerts have become one of the Boston area's most valuable jazz resources. Kurtis Rivers, Arni Cheatham, Paavo Carey, Chico Freeman, Sean Berry, Charlie Kohlhase (saxophones); Jerry Sabatini, Haneef Nelson (trumpets); Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Tyler Bonilla, Bill Lowe (trombones); John Kordalewski (piano); John Lockwood (bass); Yoron Israel (drums).
