Join Mike Manning of the Friends of the Boston Harborwalk for a combination virtual tour and walking tour (weather permitting) to commemorate the centennial of the Great Molasses Flood of 1919. We will meet in the Fort Point Arts Community (FPAC) meeting space at the base of the Envoy Hotel at 70 Sleeper Street in the South Boston Seaport.


For the first hour, Mike will discuss the Great Molasses Flood, its causes, and its impacts on the North End neighborhood. If the weather cooperates, a complimentary trolley tour bus will transport the group to the Great Molasses Flood site to continue to the tour.


At the end of the tour, tour guests are invited to re-board the trolley as it continues its normal tour route to Charlestown and then back to Boston. For those needing access to transit, North Station is less than a ten-minute walk from the Great Molasses Flood site.


The exterior entrance to the FPAC meeting space is at the corner of the Envoy Hotel and the Barking Crab restaurant (the FPAC space is not accessible from the lobby or the interior of the Envoy Hotel).


All are welcome, but please only RSVP if you plan to come, as space is limited and we want to be able to contact you in case of inclement weather. If the weather does not cooperate, the entire tour will be virtual and held within the confines of the FPAC space.


The Friends of the Boston Harborwalk is a volunteer group affiliated with Boston Harbor Now. The group meets monthly to promote awareness, public enjoyment, and local stewardship of Boston’s 43-mile Harborwalk.
