Join host Randy Ross, social media extraordinaire, at Hostelling International Boston (HI-Boston) for an interactive workshop and networking experience geared specifically towards travelers, bloggers, and everyone in between. During this blogging bootcamp, established travel bloggers and industry leaders will share their road-tested tips and tricks to take your blogging to the next level. Among the speakers are representatives from Matador University, Go Girl Travel Network, and Peace Corps, who will discuss different platforms and tactics for successfully sharing your trip to the digital community.
During this session, attendees can also participate in a blogging contest, with live blog post readings and special prizes. In addition to prizes, raffles and giveaways, the ticket entry includes free food offerings from Mike & Patty’s and Shojo, and a sampling of local beer from breweries like Aeronaut and Harpoon. Following the session, attendees can join HI-Boston’s weekly Thursday night pub crawl to Central Square in Cambridge, mingling with travelers from all over the world. Join the conversation and get live updates using #digitalbackpackerboston.
Host Randy Ross is an accomplished Boston-area writer, performer, and world traveler. His fiction has appeared in The Drum, Black Heart Magazine, Calliope, and Side B Magazine. In 2007, he took a four-month, solo trip around the world and he can now say in three languages: “Do you speak English?” “How much is the Pepto-Bismol?” and “Excuse me, is this the evacuation helicopter?” He is writing a novel inspired by the trip with the working title: The Loneliest Planet. He has performed a one-man show, The Chronic Single's Handbook, based on the book, at fringe theater festivals from Washington, D.C. to Edinburgh, Scotland.
The blogging and social media experience begins at 6:00 p.m. To purchase your ticket, visit bostondigitalbackpacker.eventbrite.com.
