It’s just another night at the morgue for a father (Brian Cox) and son (Emile Hirsch) team of coroners, until an unidentified, highly unusual corpse comes in. Discovered buried in the basement of the home of a brutally murdered family, the young Jane Doe—eerily well preserved and with no visible signs of trauma—is shrouded in mystery. As they work into the night to piece together the cause of her death, the two men begin to uncover the disturbing secrets of her life. Soon, a series of terrifying events make it clear: this Jane Doe may not be dead. The latest from Trollhunter director Andre Ovredal is a scarily unpredictable, supernatural shocker that never lets up.

REVIEWS:
NYTimes Critics’ Pick! “Unheralded and unhyped, The Autopsy of Jane Doe sneaks into theaters like a chilly treat among the Christmas comedies and Force-fed mythologizing. The first solo English-language feature from the Norwegian director André Ovredal – an infinitely more disciplined follow-up to his 2011 film, Trollhunter – this shivery tour through a young woman’s innards turns putrefaction into a puzzle.” – The New York Times

“A chamber horror piece in which a corpse’s stillness only grows more ominously unreliable as it’s dissected.” – Variety

“Each new step provides a new clue to Doe’s true identity, playing out like a murder mystery where the clues are inside the victim’s body.” – The A.V. Club

“The Autopsy of Jane Doe starts strongly, its tightly focused narrative fueled by carefully calibrated dread, queasily graphic surgical detail, and a promising subtext of science vs. superstition.” – The Hollywood Reporter
