We’re hiring! The Boston Athenæum seeks qualified stuffed animals, action figures, and dolls to work for one special night in Reference, Circulation, Security, and other library departments. Human friends are invited to join us for a brown-bag picnic and movie screening before the stuffies, lovies, and toys get to work!


11 am - 11:30 am
Teddy Bears’ Picnic: Bring your brown-bag lunch, grab one of our picnic blankets, and settle in for the movie.


11:30 am - 1 pm
Zootopia: Rabbit police officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) works alongside charismatic fox con artist Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) to crack a major case involving the mysterious disappearance of some carnivorous citizens. But anti-carnivore prejudices among the city’s herbivores threaten to damage the fabric of their diverse metropolis.


1 pm - 2 pm
New Employee Orientation: Stuffies, lovies, and toys will register as new employees, receive Athenæum IDs, and wish their human friends a good night. After human friends go home, the stuffies, lovies, and toys will get to work!


Sunday, March 26, 12 pm - 4 pm
Pick-Up: Human friends can pick up their toys at the circulation desk.


Registration begins March 10 at 9 am.

The Athenæum's five galleried floors overlook the peaceful Granary Burying Ground, and, as Gamaliel Bradford wrote in 1931, "it is safe to say that [no library] anywhere has more an atmosphere of its own, that none is more conducive to intellectual aspiration and spiritual peace." The building was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
