TCN UpStart Roundtables are monthly gatherings at the Venture Cafe that bring together Boston-area early-stage startups and seasoned entrepreneurs. This free series with The Capital Network, Venture Cafe, and Silicon Valley Bank is a great opportunity for you to ask burning questions about starting a company and meet other like-minded entrepreneurs in a casual cafe setting.


This week we welcome Liam Pisano, the Managing Director at LearnLaunch, Boston’s Ed Tech Accelerator, Co-working space and Institute. LearnLauch is dedicated to connecting, supporting, and growing the education technology ecosystem to drive innovation and transform learning. It’s a vibrant community, delivering educational events, a selective accelerator program and a collaborative co-working space.


Prior to joining LearnLaunch, Pisano focused on growth equity, leveraged buyout and venture debt investments in the education services, technology, and health care sectors. He is an investment professional with over 15 years of experience, holding investment roles at Spectrum Equity Investors, Hercules Technology Growth Capital and Patriot Capital, as well as co-founding edtech startup Academic Earth. He is a proud 13-year member of the Big Brothers Association of Massachusetts and a two-time Big Brother. He is also co-founder of the William Gaines Foundation (Biggie’s Kids), a non-profit organization serving underprivileged inner city high school students. Liam received his B.A in Political Science from Williams College, and his M.B.A from Yale University.


Pete McDonald, the Relationship Manager the Emerging Technology Practice at Silicon Valley Bank will be moderating the discussion. Pete has over 20 years of experience working with startups and works primarily with early stage Technology and Life Science companies.
