Tasting Counter is an innovative restaurant in Somerville, Massachusetts, offering a multi-sensory dining experience. The philosophy of the restaurant is to establish the shortest distance between the production of food and the dining guest. Guests are seated at a counter, directly facing the preparation of an inspired tasting menu, paired with all-natural wines, beers, sakes, or handcrafted non-alcoholic beverages.

DINNER


THURSDAY – SUNDAY → 5:30 pm & 8:00 pm // 9-course tasting menu // 2-hour experience


Tasting Counter breaks down the barrier between dining room and kitchen, bringing you closer to the preparation and presentation of your meal. Experience a nine-course tasting menu with inspired beverage pairings, as chefs cook directly for you.


Each two hour seating is akin to a performance and intended to be a multi-sensory experience. In a minimalist and modern space that is both kitchen and dining room, guests take their seats at a U-shaped counter framing the kitchen and watch as food for guests is cooked, beautifully plated, and served immediately, course by course. Dishes are presented by a chef and paired with inspired selections of natural wines, beers, sakes, or handcrafted non-alcoholic beverages, with guests encouraged to eat, sip, and ask questions.


Utilizing impeccably sourced New England ingredients and influenced by culinary techniques and traditions from around the world, the 9-course Tasting Menu maintains elements of surprise and is never revealed in advance (though guests receive a keepsake menu at the end of dinner).


In place of reservations, guests purchase tickets which include everything: the tasting menu, beverage pairings, service, and tax. Tickets completely remove the financial component from the dining experience so that guests may simply walk out the door when their meal is complete... just like going to a concert, theater, or sporting event.


Dinner is served every Thursday through Sunday, with two seatings each evening. Purchasing tickets in advance is required via our ticketing system. We make every effort to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions with advance notice.


LUNCH


SATURDAY – SUNDAY → 1:00 pm // 3-course tasting menu // 1-hour experience


Join us at the counter for a mid-day treat or a quick respite during your busy day and enjoy a multi-course tasting menu with your choice of all-natural beverage pairings, prepared and served in a comfortable, modern space that is both our kitchen and dining room.


As with dinner, come and go with ease... there is no bill to wait for, thanks to our all-inclusive ticketing system, leaving you more time to relax and enjoy your dining experience.


Our 3-course lunch is served every Saturday and Sunday. Purchasing tickets in advance is required via our ticketing system.
