MFA Film is thrilled to present Sunset Cinema, a free open-air theater with monthly film screenings on the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's Huntington lawn! The new program kicks off on July 13, the opening night of the Boston French Film Festival, with the sharp-witted comedy "Divorce French Style."

We suggest bringing a blanket or low chair, a picnic supper, and nonalcoholic beverages to enjoy during the film. Beer, wine, and snacks will be available for purchase. Lawn games, music, and art-making activities begin at 6:30 pm. The film will start at sundown, around 8 pm.

Before the show, try your hand at plein-air drawing under the evening sky! We'll provide drawing materials, art instruction by local artist and MFA educator, Elizabeth Taylor and a model to sketch from. All levels of drawing ability welcome. Create a masterpiece to bring home!

"Divorce French Style" stars Laurent Lafitte and Marina Foïs as a pair of hotheaded ex-spouses who have no choice but to play nice for the sake of their kids. Two years after their messy divorce, Vincent and Florence finally have it all figured out; they live in adjacent houses, split time with the children, and have a civil (if cynical) relationship. This tenuous truce unravels fast when both exes get involved with hot new partners, provoking each other’s insanely competitive natures. Stuffed with brilliant banter and absurd situations, "Divorce French Style" is nonstop fun from début to fin.

Join us this summer for more Sunset Cinema! MFA Film screens the gritty prison drama "Cool Hand Luke" on August 17 as part of the film series "Feed Your Head: Films from 1967" and teams up with the Roxbury International Film Festival to present the groundbreaking horror flick "Get Out" on September 14.

The Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Film Program at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is funded by the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation. "Sunset Cinema" is supported by the Carlotte and Samuel Berk Fund.
