March 17th, 2019 - HeartSoulVoice Ensemble
HeartSoulVoice Ensemble is a duo comprised of Janna Maria Fröhlich (voice, harp, keyboard, guitar) and Joy Grimes (violin). The duo, which was founded in 2012, specializes in evocative contemporary, traditional, & original songs and tunes, with classical, world, folk, and jazz influences. Past performances include (but aren't limited to) Jamaica Plain and Roslindale PorchFests,Friends of Music at Guilford (VT), The Burren lunchtime series, Eliot Street Soirée, New England Folk Festival, Arts at the Armory Café, First Church in JP, First Parish Lincoln, as well as local house concerts. Janna, who took up the harp after earning a degree in medieval/renaissance music, is the former long-time soloist at First Church in Jamaica Plain and is a singer-songwriter, music teacher, and composer/arranger. Joy also plays professionally with many local orchestras such as the Handel & Hayden Society and other folk/Celtic ensembles. She teaches strings at the Suzuki School of Newton.
Today's show, in honor of St. Patrick's day, will include the duo's Irish Celtic repertoire, as well as some Celtic-inspired originals with a dash of "singer-songwriter" thrown in to the mix.
