Advisors are a key part of any successful startup, whether they're the founders' informal mentors or formally recognized as members of an advisory board. Good advisors add expertise, connections, credibility. Sometimes they can provide truly game-changing input: they can open doors to partnerships & investors, warn startups of industry pitfalls they're approaching, help hire key team members in a function the founders don't know well. They can provide the rarest of sounding boards for founders' difficult decisions -- not personally affected by it, but still invested in ensuring the best result.

As experienced founders know, finding these folks rarely happens coincidentally. Even when you have or find connections that could make excellent advisors, the relationship and communication required to reap the benefits does take thought and effort.

Avoid well-intentioned time-wasters, false gurus, and missed opportunities. Learn from our panel how you can find and involve advisors that can help you grow your startup.

This event is part of the Founding Startups track at Startup Boston 2018.
