Each spring during the Revolutionary War, the armies shook the rust off and resupplied. Meanwhile, in Revolutionary Philadelphia, people rolled musket cartridges and sewed flags to supply the army. This spring break, band together to recreate their efforts with hands-on craft demonstrations.
The Museum will host interpreters on April 13th and 14th portraying the “artificers” who served under Philadelphian Benjamin Flower (whose portrait is on display at the Museum) as they repair old equipment and make new goods for the Continental Army. Witness daily activities and demonstrations from the Revolutionary period, including shoemaking, tailoring and fencing.
In the Museum’s discovery center, Revolution Place, the whole family can explore 18th-century Philadelphia through immersive environments, interactive touchscreens, reproduction objects, and special programs from 12 pm - 4 pm daily.
