Originally founded by National Slam poet Ms. Alyesha Wise, The Sounds In A Gallery Open Mic is Philadelphia's premier spoken word poetry based open mic. Hosted by Poetry247.com founder, Christopher K.P. Brown, and singer/songwriter Justin Graham, the event takes place every first Saturday of the month at A Poet's Art Gallery – 4032 Girard Avenue. Doors open at 7:30PM. Show starts at 8PM.
The first hour of the event is dedicated to open mic artists. We invite poets, musicians, and comedians to come out and perform at our open mic. Each artist is given five minutes to perform. The second hour is for our featured acts. We feature local, regional and national poets, musicians, and comedians. We aim to provide our audience members with the best featured acts possible.
Free food is served at the event and we also offer low price drinks for our audience members. This event is a perfect way to end or begin your Saturday night in Philadelphia. Margel The Sophant of the hip hop duo SELA provides the sounds between acts. Photography is provided by On Point Ink Photography. Come on out and join us for good poetry, good music, good food, and a good time.
