Slut Ballet with Sugar Dish at The Dance Complex

Slut Ballet is a fusion of ballet and exotic dance techniques aimed at building strength, finding form, developing style, and gaining control: the goal is to help students learn how *their* bodies move so they can learn to express themselves with movement more fluently. All levels and all bodies welcome.

The class will begin with floor and center "barre" exercises (we will not be using actual barres in this series)--movement will focus on warming and conditioning different muscle groups while teaching body placement. The class will then shift focus to choreography, first with some brief combinations across the floor and bits of improv, then a longer piece of choreo to finish the class. In the choreography section students will apply the technique they've learned, while also playing with style and artistry. Come dance with us.

Dress code:
Comfortable clothing* that allows for a full range of movement. Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, bare feet, or socks are all fine footwear. You are welcome to try with pointe shoes if you have experience. You are welcome to bring heels to try (for use in choreo section only).

*In the interest of fairness, and as a personal request, I ask that in my class, you wear a top (pasties do not qualify as a top), regardless of your sex or gender identity or expression. Until all of us are legally allowed to go topless in a dance class, please show respect for your marginalized peers by not flaunting this privilege. Thank you.
