SISJBTC will show designs planned and in progress for their quilts. Join in or bring your own. Experienced and new quilters welcome. 1-4 pm in the Parish Hall, 3rd Saturdays, July-Aug, Sep-Dec.
SISJBTC is New England's only quilt guild dedicated to preserving the art, tradition and culture of African-American traditional and contemporary quilting. They have exhibited and lectured throughout the region to share their heritage with the public. Their quilts explore spiritual and secular themes through design, texture, composition, color, material, and motif. Their art has traveled across oceans, survived slavery and been passed down through generations of families and friends. The guild continues to keep this tradition going and to share it with others, sharing their joys, sorrow, traditions and to celebrate their history. Quilting connects the guild to their ancestry, preserves their memories and gives them a way to connect with generations to come.
