Semi Presidential Traverse

NOTE: Please dont make this your first hike in the White mountains up 4000 footers. If your Ridj-it profile is sparse and I haven't hiked with you before then you will only be allowed to join if i am confident that you can make it through the hike safely. So if you fit this description then please check in with me via comments before signing up and list your previous hiking experience where you hiked with atleast 2500ft elevation gain and was 6 miles long. This trip requires careful planning of logistics since we need to carspot. So I want to avoid last minute cancellations. This means, exceptionally for this hike, cancellations close to the hiking date will be frowned upon (car-poolers as well as non-car-poolers) and cancellations will affect your future acceptance to hikes organised by me. So please bear these in mind!

Welcome to my Semi Presidential traverse - half the distance twice the fun! On this epic day we will be tackling four 4000 footers (Monroe, Franklin, Eisenhower and Pierce) as well as Mt. Jackson and Mt. Webster. This hike is a traverse and would require some light carspotting and only works if we have 3 cars. We will begin on the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail and hike up our way to the Lake of the Clouds hut, going past a cool waterfall. From this point on the hike will be entirely on the Presidential Range ridge! Also most of our ascent is done and the trail is mostly downhill except for the summits. We will hit Mt. Monroe (5305ft), Little Monroe, Mt. Franklin (4974ft) and Mt. Eisenhower (4754) in succession, stopping briefly for the views from each peak. On Eisenhower we will break for lunch (unless its too windy and cold, then we will do so at the Mizpah Spring hut) and enjoy some more views. From there we will make our way to Mt. Pierce (4292ft) and then climb down the Webster Cliff Trail towards the Mizpah Spring hut and onward to Mt. Jackson, followed by Mt. Webster. Nearing the end of our long hike and the end of our energy reserve, we will be hit by the scenic vistas from the Webster cliffs, which will d9 much to recharge our spirits as we make our way down the scrambly rocky trail onto Route 302 - the end of our SemiPresi Traverse!

Elevation gain: 3750 ft (4334 ft for alternate route)
Rating: Hard to Strenuous

Gear: (Required)
* Hiking/trail running shoes - absolutely no sneakers (you will be turned away at the Alewife parking lot!)
* 2 liters of water (refill at Lake of the Clouds as well as Mizpah Spring hut)
* Snack and lunch
* Backpack to hold your stuff
* Non cotton layers (its fall and it can get cold up there so hats and gloves are recommended too)
* Electrolytes!
* Rain/Wind Gear
* Emergency supplies (first aid, knife, Ibuprofen, etc)
* Map of the hike (All trials link provided below)
* Sunscreen
* Hat
* Headlamps (recommended)
* Trekking poles (optional but recommended)
* Extra clothing in case you get wet or it gets too cold (weather dependent)

You must have the supplies above or you will be turned away before leaving the Alewife. You are responsible for having a map of this hike; this is not a guided hike. You are joining like-minded enthusiasts and are responsible for your own safety and preparedness. If you cant keep up with the group i expect you to turn back and wait at the trailhead. Many an experienced hiker have done so in the past. Beyond that lets make this a memorable trip with friends!
