Throughout music history, certain composers, often as a result of societal or political unrest, have revolutionized musical form and convention by upending status quo. Here the Trio features Haydn, the father of the string quartet; Ravel, a self-proclaimed ‘Hooligan’; Schoenberg, the founder of the Second Viennese School; and Cage, who embraced the whole soundscape, including silence. The Trio will be joined by Jeff Mattsey, Longy faculty, and MET Opera baritone.
